The European Roma Spirit Award is awarded to the key players in the process of improving the living conditions of Roma in European countries.

The Roma Spirit project is implemented for all individuals, groups and organizations dedicated to build an open civil society and to work on social inclusion and Roma issues. At the same time, it is implemented for organizations, companies, international organizations, influential persons and governments, who by their actions and attitudes are important for the Roma community as an equal and equitable part of the European Community now and in the future.

Roma Spirit project aims to facilitate an evidence based change of stereotypes and deals with prejudices through a very complex mechanism targeting various stakeholders with tailored approach, including the promotion of the best practices in different sectors.

Non-Governmental Organization

Awarded to a non-governmental organization for the realization and demonstrated results of a distinct project for delivering support and enhancement to the Roma minority, and recognizable out of school educational activities for Roma children and youth.


Company & Employer

Awarded for activities conducted by business entities, organizations or institutions, such as nursery school, university, research department, and others.


Municipality

Awarded to municipalities and self-governing regions, which through their governments and combined efforts contributed to decent standing of the Roma community and to their coexistence and understanding with the majority society.


Personality

Awarded to individuals who, through their activities, continuously contribute or have contributed to improving the situation of the Roma community and the development of intercultural dialogue.


Media

Awarded to journalist or mass media for spreading positive, objective, sensitive and balanced information about the Roma minority, or media who otherwise significantly contributed to promotion of understanding and tolerance in society.
