Commissioner for Human Rights of the Council of Europe Nils Muižnieks visited Slovakia in June 2015 to monitor several areas of protection of human rights.
In his report from this visit, he also focused on human rights of Roma. After evaluating the situation of Roma in Slovakia, the report states that “[…]the Commissioner wishes to highlight and commend an example of good practice: the “Roma Spirit Awards”, organised in Slovakia by the Association for Culture, Education and Communication to acknowledge individuals and organisations involved in projects and activities aimed at improving the situation of Roma, is a useful initiative for showcasing Roma inclusion practices. ” (p.13)
